The ideal positioning of the Southern Highlands in New South Wales has contributed enormously to their progression as a world class tourist destination. Bowral is the kind of destination that maintains its appeal, no matter what the weather. In the winter time its a cosy and romantic place where couples can warm themselves beside the log fire in an old English-style mansion. Then in the spring the tulips bloom and the flower gardens on the streets erupt into a sea of colour. The gardens here are considered to be amongst the best in the world in terms of design and impact, and anyone with an appreciation for nature, beauty or indeed gardening will not be disappointed. But there are also other attractions that do not depend on the weather. Bowral's favourite son is none other than cricketing legend Donald Bradman, who spent much of his formative years here. The Bradman museum has been set up here in recognition of this fact, and is a must-see for any sporting enthusiasts. It takes a comprehensive look at the early days of cricket, and has a large collection of artefacts relating to the career of Bradman.

There are plenty of natural attractions to visit as well, with one of the most common being the Fitzroy Falls. Located in the Morton National Park next to Fitzroy Village, a sheet of water plunges over an 80 metre high rock face into a pool below. The river then continues winding its way through the Kangaroo Valley.
