Sun and sand await all those who travel to the famous Bahamas Islands. Located in the Atlantic Ocean, the Bahamas are made up of almost 700 islands and thousands of cays. A real tropical paradise beyond your wildest dreams, whichever island you choose to go to in the Bahamas, you'll never leave disappointed. The Bahamas has the clearest waters in the world and it's scientifically proven that a specific algae which requires light to live, is found deeper in the Bahamas than anywhere else in the world.
English is the first and foremost language of the Bahamas, so don't worry about having to get around and not knowing the way of the local language. Each island you go to seems the same as the next from a distance, however upon arriving, you realize they couldn't be more different. The good thing about having so many islands is that no one is ever really over crowded. Even the biggest, for example, the island of Andros, is surprisingly the least explored.
This little beauty of the Bahamas however is renowned for being the bone-fishing capital of the world. If you're a beginner, hire a guide to teach you the ropes and reel in your very own dinner. While you're here, don't miss out on seeing the famous landmark of Andros, the Andros Lighthouse and Captain Bill's Blue Hole, a perfectly rounded inland hole with crystal clear blue waters, perfect for swimming in.
If you want to visit one of the more popular places in the Bahamas, head for Nassau. Nassau, which is the capital city of the Bahamas, sits on New Providence Island which neighbours with Paradise Island. Here you will find it more catered to the international scene in terms of food and attractions but yet still mixed with local flavour. Paradise Island, which is connected to Nassau by two bridges, is like a "hotel on an island", with different sorts of accommodations catering to all types of travellers paired with restaurants, shops and a casino.
For a slice of paradise like no other, head for Harbour Island which is ranked as the Best Island in the Caribbean. Most renown for its pale pink sand beaches that will leave you speechless and the aquamarine waters that dazzle, the pink candyfloss like beach is said to be the next big thing. The best part about it is that it's still pretty much undiscovered, so it feels like a world of your own when you're there, a private paradise, just for you.
